Schindler Enhances Building Environments with Comprehensive Mid-Rise Modernization Package for Existing Elevators

Schindler Elevator Corporation has announced the launch of the Schindler 6400 NA, a comprehensive modernization package specifically designed to enable mid-rise buildings to upgrade their existing elevators to today's standards for reliability, efficiency and sustainability with minimal downtime and shortened lead times. The Schindler 6400 NA features an integrated family of proven products, streamlining the modernization process for fast, cost effective retrofitting and superior performance. Each of the package's highly specialized components is designed with the flexibility to seamlessly adapt to the needs of any mid-rise building: Schindler Miconic TX controllers deliver unbeatable traffic handling in mid-rise buildings; Optional PORT Technology can further reduce time to destination and offer personalized service and access control features; Schindler's exclusive modular gearless machine, the Schindler FMM 200, is specifically designed to be used in existing machine rooms, featuring a compact design and minimum dimensions that allow the parts to fit through standard machine room doors and be assembled in the machine room; Power Factor 1 regenerative drives have a power factor of 0.99, and are designed to return energy to a building's electrical grid instead of wasting it as heat, helping building owners and managers to reach enhanced sustainability goals; Schindler Suspension Traction Media (STM) replaces conventional steel cables, offering three times the service life and requiring a significantly smaller sheave for maximum space savings in compact machine rooms; Schindler Varidor 50A closed loop linear door operators for smooth, safe, reliable door operation; Schindler Remote Monitoring (SRM), a proactive maintenance tool, monitors the upgraded system 24/7 and helps return equipment to service up to 22% faster than traditional troubleshooting methods.

Schindler Elevator Corporation Wins Contract to Provide and Install Efficient and Sustainable Mobility Solutions at Hudson Yards in NYC

Schindler Elevator Corporation has been awarded a multi-million dollar contract by Related Companies to provide and install 32 elevators and four escalators at Hudson Yards South Tower, a 52-story, 1.7 million square-foot commercial office tower to reside at the 26-acre site planned for a new business district in Manhattan's 'New West Side.' Upon completion in 2015, the building is expected to achieve LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. Designed by Architect Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates, the building will be home to anchor tenant Coach Inc.'s headquarters as well as L'Oreal USA, SAP and Fairway. Thornton Tomasetti is providing structural design. Tutor Perini Building Corporation is the General Contractor. Intuitive Technology Provides Personalized Mobility: Moving occupants faster and more efficiently throughout the office tower will be 27 energy-efficient Schindler 7000 custom passenger elevators equipped with Schindler's PORT Technology destination-dispatching system. The PORT system functions as a two-way communication interface between occupants and the building's environment and optimizes traffic flow throughout the building while offering, predictive call entry and personalized service. The technology's patented access control uses RFID technology to play a significant role in managing and controlling access within the building. At Hudson Yards South Tower, this technology will allow occupants to use pre-programmed access cards to generate an automatic elevator assignment, allowing advanced access control and customized mobility throughout the building. The system offers a building security system seamlessly integrated with elevator access control at every floor. Energy Efficient Design: Designed with energy efficiency in mind, each terminal's proximity sensor tells it when to be active and at all other times puts it into low energy consumption mode. When the terminal screen illuminates, an ambient light sensor determines only the brightness level required, again optimizing energy usage. The technology also helps ensure elevator trips are as efficient as possible. This produces a very resourceful use of energy even during heavy traffic.
