Gang Yuan Joins Miller Canfield's Expanding China Practice

The law firm of Miller Canfield announced that lawyer Gang Yuan has joined the firm in its New York City office in the Corporate Group. He will focus his practice on global M&A transactions, foreign direct investment and regulatory issues, especially in the oil and gas industry. He will continue representing Chinese, North American and European companies as they expand globally. Mr. Yuan joins Miller Canfield from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer where he was counsel and head of its Energy and Natural Resources team in Beijing, China. He has spent the past eight years in the China offices of global firms, including Freshfields, the former Dewey & LeBoeuf, as well as Weil Gotshal.

Miller Canfield Announces Executive Changes

Miller Canfield announced that lawyer Michael P. McGee has been named Chief Executive Officer. McGee, a principal and public finance lawyer in the Detroit headquarters office, joined the firm in 1985. He has served on the firm's management board and was its hiring chair. McGee follows Michael W. Hartmann who steps down after serving six years as CEO and before that, three years as chair of the managing directors. Hartmann will resume his practice as a commercial litigator while serving as the firm's in-house general counsel. During his tenure as CEO, Hartmann oversaw Miller Canfield's expansion in Toronto, Chicago, China and Mexico. McGee has nearly three decades of public policy experience and a broad legal background. He has acted as bond counsel to governmental issuers of all types in financing public infrastructure.
