DSP Group Inc. and Conexant Systems Inc. announced a joint reference design for a high-quality, low bit-rate and cost-effective video over DECT/ULE solution. DSP Group's DHX chipset family is a highly-integrated single-chip (SoC) solution for ULE (Ultra Low Energy) technology - the next generation of home automation and monitoring standards, which offers the advantages of superior range, video and audio support over DECT, long battery life, and DIY installation. ULE products also benefit from a dedicated frequency band, which enables interference-free operation. Conexant's CX93610 is a low power, small footprint mixed signal Application-Specific Standard Product (ASSP) for JPEG /DIFT (Differential) Motion JPEG encoder applications with a 656 camera interface. Part of Conexant's ImagingSmart(TM) solutions, the CX93610 significantly increases video-over-DECT performance by reducing the required bandwidth and is ideally suited for cordless camera security solutions that require visual verification. The integration of Conexant's CX93610 DIFT JPEG encoder with DSP Group's DHX reference design brings a cost-efficient, low power and high image compression solution for PIR sensors with video visual intercom, visual door phones, baby monitors, and remote home monitoring and security.

Conexant Systems Inc. Announces New Family of Low-Power, VoIP-Enhanced Fax Modem Chips

Conexant Systems Inc. announced a new family of low-power, VoIP-enhanced fax modem chips: the CX95710, a data pump solution, and CX95810, an AT command device. Both products are part of Conexant's ImagingSmart solutions and offer advanced low power modes - exceeding stringent Energy Star 2.0 requirements - and enhanced VoIP performance to support the growing demand for VoIP network solutions. In addition, the new product family brings optimal host interface through Serial Peripheral Interface, and support for Conexant's CX20548 SmartDAA 4 Line Side Device - highly integrated Worldwide Direct Access Arrangement solution. CX95710, a data pump solution, and CX95810, an AT command device, are VoIP-enhanced fax modem chips that support the growing demand for VoIP network solutions. Both Conexant chips offer advanced low power modes that exceed Energy Star 2.0 requirements. With a goal to achieve the lowest power and greatest level of energy efficiency, Conexant set out to enhance its fax modem products to exceed Energy Star 2.0 requirements. For multi-function printer manufacturers seeking to reduce power consumption wherever possible, the most advanced energy saving technologies available are required. One critical function in an MFP that can benefit from enhancements in power consumption is stand-by power utilization. Recognizing this, Conexant designed both the CX95710 and CX95810 to enable up to 40% power reduction over previous generations - while still maintaining optimal performance. This was achieved by employing advanced design techniques, clock gating, advanced clock management in low power states, and integration of an optional charge pump for maximum efficiency. With the impending sunset of the traditional PSTN network, the communications landscape is quickly evolving into an IP market, and ensuring that fax and data modems work reliably over an IP network is critical. Conexant's new fax modem product family offers best-in-class VoIP performance optimized for both traditional analog phone lines and VoIP networks. With more fax modem market share than any other provider, Conexant's product development team has embraced the shifting communications landscape and drive toward VoIP networks in both the commercial/professional and consumer/home markets. To ensure performance and reliability excellence, Conexant performs VoIP testing against the ITU-T G.1050 standard. The CX95710, a data pump solution, supports the same field-proven firmware of previous generations -- enabling a straightforward design migration. The CX95810, an AT command controller solution, allows for further ease of design and brings Conexant's fax architecture to a wider audience not familiar with data pump designs. The CX95810 leverages the proven AT command controller from Conexant's popular data modems and allows simple programming of the fax modem through standard AT commands.
