Isolux Corsán Enters Peru Hydroelectric Market with EUR 760 Million Contract

Isolux Corsán has been awarded a contract for the construction of the Molloco hydroelectric power plant located in the southern region of Arequipa (Peru). This is the company's first hydroelectric project in the country. The estimated total investment, as of the date of commencement of work based on the official studies, and pending completion of definitive studies, will exceed EUR 760 million. The group will build this plant, which will have a total capacity of 300 MW, as part of a consortium with the Brazilian companies, Enex and Engevix. This facility, located in the provinces of Caylloma and Castilla, consists of two hydroelectric plants and will produce energy from the water resources of the Molloco River basin and in part from the Palca river. The project, coordinated by the Ministry of Energy and Mines of Peru, comprises three reservoirs (Machucocha, Molloco and Japo), the derivation of part of the Palca river to the Illigua river and two adduction conduits, the first to the Llatica hydropower plant (with a capacity of 142 MW) and the second to the Soro hydropower plant (capacity of 159 MW). The 220 kV electric transmission system will go to Cerro Verde. The construction of this plant, which will begin in 2015, has an execution period of five years.

Isolux Corsán Wins New Contracts in Africa

Isolux Corsán has secured new contracts for the construction of various infrastructures in two African countries, Kenya and Algeria, which have a total budget of EUR 190 million. In Kenya, the Group will build 428 km of 400 kV transmission lines, which will evacuate the power produced by the future 300 MW wind farm in the vicinity of Lake Turkana in the north of the country. This EPC project (engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning) was awarded by Ketraco, an agency of the Ministry of Energy of Kenya, with a price tag EUR 142 million. In Algeria, Isolux Corsán will build a 240-bed hospital with a total floor area of 29,000 m(2). Situated in Draria, a suburb of Algiers, the hospital has a total budget of close to EUR 35 million and will serve a population of 120,000 people. In addition, the Group will build a new wastewater treatment plant in Mohammadia with a budget of over EUR 14 million. This WWTP can meet the demand of an estimated population of 95,000 with a flow rate of 14,000 m(3) per day. These new contracts join the recently awarded contract in Senegal, where Isolux Corsán will build 194.5 km of road comprising two sections of the RN6 highway and the new Kolda Bridge. The project has a budget of over EUR 111 million and calls for the widening, improvement and adaptation of the motorway that runs south of the Casamance River, between the river and the Guinea Bissau border and connecting the cities of Ziguinchor and Kolda.
