Ford Receives Interest For Wixom Plant Site Sale
Oct 5 12
Ford Motor Co. is looking to sell parts of its vacant Wixom Assembly Plant and has received interest from Menard, Inc. Ford Motor has already started its first stage of a massive demolition project at the site which is covering 317-acre. "We're working on a deal, but nothing has been finalized just yet," said Jeff Abbott, spokesman for Menards. Ford did not comment on specific sale negotiations, but said it is currently speaking with multiple companies about a possible sale and eventually intends to sell a majority of the site. "Our goal is to sell the entire assembly plant site," said Becky Sanch, a Ford spokeswoman. Ford will retain 32 acres of the total property in the southwest corner for environmental management reasons.
