AOptix Technologies, Inc. Key Developments

Car-sa Deploys AOptix Intellimax to Extend Fiber Core

AOptix announced that Car-sa, a Mexico-based alternative carrier, has successfully deployed the AOptix Intellimax wireless transport product at the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon (UANL) in Monterrey to replace lower-capacity wireless connections. Car-sa's AOptix link is the first of several links to be deployed throughout Mexico, delivering high capacity connectivity to places where fiber is not possible or economically feasible. Car-sa's customers will include Mexico's major communications service providers, mobile network operators, and large enterprises. The high capacity wireless transport will be used for a wide range of applications including mobile backhaul, data center connectivity, replacement of legacy microwave radios, and fiber back-up links. Car-sa will also use the AOptix Intellimax links to offer Broadband As A Service to large enterprises and educational institutions, such as UANL for video-on-demand classes between campuses. The AOptix Intellimax is a high-capacity wireless transport product that delivers fiber-like performance, offering the great capacity of any wireless networking technology on the market. Based on Composite Optical-RF (COR) technology, it is capable of delivering 2 Gbps constant data rate with carrier-grade availability, at distances up to 8 kilometers in a single hop, or virtually unlimited distances in repeater configuration.

National Aeronautics and Space Administration Selects AOptix to Deploy AOptix Intellimax at Kennedy Space Center

AOptix announced that the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is deploying AOptix Intellimax at the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Cape Canaveral, Florida, for evaluation as a next generation communications technology. NASA has a rich tradition of engaging cutting-edge technologies to solve complex challenges, and this deployment is a part of the space program's ongoing commitment to explore the most innovative solutions available. The AOptix Intellimax is a high-capacity wireless transport product that delivers fiber-like performance, offering the bandwidth of any wireless networking technology on the market. It is the first Composite Optical-RF (COR) product ever brought to market, and it is capable of delivering carrier-grade availability and 2Gbps constant data rate at distances up to 10 kilometers in a single hop, or unlimited distances in repeater configuration. The underlying Adaptive Optics technology used in Intellimax was originally developed by two scientists to enable astronomers to view deep-space images with greater clarity. AOptix has adapted the technology and made it the basis for the Intellimax family of products, which serves a wide range of wireless communications needs--from mobile backhaul to fiber extension to last-mile enterprise applications.
