Private Equity Firms Reportedly Eyes Stake In CMS Info Systems

Baring Private Equity Asia, Bain Capital, LLC, The Carlyle Group LP (NasdaqGS:CG), Apollo Global Management, LLC (NYSE:APO), Advent International Corporation and Apax Partners LLP are eyeing to take control of CMS Info Systems Pvt. Ltd., as-The Blackstone Group L.P. (NYSE:BX) has decided to put the firm on the block, reported Economic Times. Blackstone has recently initiated the process and has mandated Rothschild to help them find a new buyer, said multiple sources involved directly. Economic Times added that interestingly, so far, only large financial sponsors have been approached and other global strategic players who compete with CMS have been left out, leading many to speculate that the company does not want to open its books and other commercial details to competition. However, there is a possibility that the Grover family too may exit along with Blackstone. These talks are however still preliminary in nature. A Blackstone India spokesperson told ET, in response to a detailed questionnaire, "We do not comment on any speculation, market or otherwise." Spokespersons of the Apax, Bain, Apollo did not want to comment on rumours while mails sent to Shweta Jalan, Advent's India Head and Managing Director, did not get any reply till the time of going to press.

Mylan, Inc. (NasdaqGS:MYL), TPG Capital LLP, Advent International Corporation, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. L.P. (NYSE:KKR) and Warburg Pincus LLC have made it through to the second round of bidding for a portfolio of mature drugs being sold by GlaxoSmithKline plc (LSE:GSK) in a transaction valued at approximately £2 billion, Wall Street Journal reported citing people familiar with the sales process. The sales process is expected to resume in early September 2014.

Savola Group Company (SASE:2050) is among first-round bidders for Kuwait Food Company (Al Americana) K.S.C.P. (KWSE:FOOD) which is likely to fetch more than $4 billion, Bloomberg reported citing people with knowledge of the situation. Other potential suitors include Advent International Corporation; CVC Capital Partners Limited; Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. L.P. (NYSE:KKR); TPG Capital, L.P. and The Carlyle Group LP (NasdaqGS:CG). A representative for Savola Group Company could not immediately comment. Kuwait Food Company (Al Americana) K.S.C.P. officials in Kuwait didn’t immediately respond to a call and e-mail seeking comment. Spokesman for Advent International Corporation, CVC Capital Partners Limited and TPG Capital, L.P declined to comment. Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. L.P. didn’t respond to a telephone and e-mail request for comment.
