New York Life announced that Heather Nesle has joined the company as president of the New York Life Foundation. Ms. Nesle also has been elected a vice president of New York Life. She reports to Frank M. Boccio, executive vice president and chief administrative officer. Ms. Nesle is responsible for managing the company's philanthropic and volunteer activities. The New York Life Foundation, nationally known for its charitable giving, and Corporate Responsibility, the unit active in focusing employee volunteer activities, both report directly to Ms. Nesle. Chris Park has had a remarkable impact on the company, launching the Foundation's focus in support of childhood bereavement issues and expanding the national discussion on the issue. Ms. Nesle most recently served as vice president, corporate sustainability at HSBC Bank USA. New York Life announced that its Board of Directors has elected veteran consumer products executive Michele G. Buck to the company's Board, effective November 1, 2013. Ms. Buck is president, North America, for The Hershey company. Ms. Buck has full profit and loss responsibility for Hershey's North America business which represents the company's largest, most profitable markets, in the U.S. and Canada. She leads Hershey's North American day-to-day commercial operations and is building on the company's competitive advantages. Previous to her current position, Ms. Buck was senior vice president, chief growth officer, and one of the principal architects of Hershey's current strategy that has the company on an aspirational path to achieve $10 billion in revenue by the end of 2017. Prior to that, she was the company's global chief marketing officer.

New York Life announced the appointment of David J. Castellani as the company's Business Information Officer, a new position. Mr. Castellani also has been elected a senior vice president of the company. In his new role Mr. Castellani is responsible for translating New York Life's business goals into clear enterprise technology solutions, for driving process improvements across company operations, and for establishing consistent governance over all information technology initiatives. He reports to Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer Frank M. Boccio. Mr. Castellani was previously head of the New York Life Retirement Plan Services business in Westwood, MA. He joined New York Life in 2011 from EWM, LLC, where he was a managing director and chief marketing officer. Succeeding Mr. Castellani at Retirement Plan Services (RPS) is Patrick M. Murphy, a veteran of more than two decades in the retirement plan industry who has served as managing director and head of sales for RPS since 2011. Mr. Murphy joined RPS in 2004 as director, Northeast sales manager, responsible for the sales team in New England and New York. Prior to joining New York Life, Mr. Murphy was vice president, sales, for American Express Retirement Plan Services, a vice president in Putnam Investments' Defined Contribution business, and a senior account representative with Diversified Investment Advisors.
