Business Development Bank of Canada has received an offer for Tobiano Golf from a Vancouver group. On April 16, 2013, Quentin Granger, who manages Tobiano on behalf of receiver BMO stated that Vancouver group headed by a wealthy buyer has expressed interest in acquiring Tobiano Golf. It was up for sale for $5.5 million.
The Business Development Bank of Canada announced the opening of its office in Val-d'Or to provide easier access to BDC's services for the region's entrepreneurs who wish to start or grow their business. This office, located at 1740 Chemin Sullivan, joins the Rouyn-Noranda BDC business centre and will serve the Abitibi-Temiscamingue region, and more specifically the Vallee-de-l'Or and Abitibi regional county municipalities. In Val-d'Or, BDC will share offices with the SADC de la Vallee-de-l'Or, an organization dedicated to the region's economic development. BDC and the Reseau des SADC et CAE have been working together to finance small business projects in the region for the past 10 years.
Business Development Bank of Canada announced the appointment of Mr. Michael Calyniuk to the BDC's Board of Directors. Mr. Calyniuk is a retired partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP where he served 24 years in audit, advisory and various senior global management roles. He is currently Chair of the British Columbia Chapter of the Institute of Corporate Directors, an organization that promotes the effectiveness of Canadian directors and boards. In addition, Mr. Calyniuk is Independent Director, Chair of the Audit Committee, and a member of the Compensation and the Nominating & Corporate Governance Committees for Munduro Capital. Prior to that, he was Chair of the British Columbia Advanced Systems Institute and Co-Chair of the BC Innovation Council.
