Great River Energy Signs 200-Megawatt Seasonal Exchange with Manitoba Hydro

Great River Energy signed a 200-megawatt seasonal diversity exchange with Manitoba Hydro of Winnipeg, extending a 150-megawatt arrangement that has been in place between the two utilities since 1995. The new agreement runs until 2030. The new agreement with Manitoba Hydro helps continue that trend. The diversity exchange means Manitoba Hydro will provide 200 megawatts of renewable hydroelectric capacity to Great River Energy in the summer to meet its energy needs, while Great River Energy will provide Manitoba Hydro with 200 megawatts of capacity during the winter.

Great River Energy to Sell Coal-Drying Technology to Tangshan Shenzhou Manufacturing Co

Great River Energy will sell its coal-drying technology to Tangshan Shenzhou Manufacturing Co. under a 10-year deal. The license agreement gives Tangshan exclusivity to sell the DryFining technology to power plants in China. The technology was developed in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Energy and is one of a limited number of DOE projects that have been commercialized.

Great River Energy reported unaudited revenue results for the year 2012. For the year, the company's 2012 revenues totaled more than $921 million, and 2012 margins exceeded $45 million outpacing its budgeted margin target of $40 million.
