Bain Capital Reportedly In Lead To Acquire Yankee Candle

Bain Capital, LLC is reportedly in lead to acquire The Yankee Candle Company, Inc. from Madison Dearborn Partners, LLC, three people familiar with the matter said. The final bids for Yankee Candle are due this week and the people added. The other buyout firms like Advent International Corporation, Ares Management LLC, Clayton, Dubilier & Rice, Inc. and CVC Capital Partners Limited had lost thier interest. As a result, Yankee Candle would be unlikely to fetch more than $2 billion, said the people, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the process is confidential. Madison Dearborn may decide not to sell the company for now, they added. Yankee Candle declined to comment while representatives of the private equity firms did not immediately respond to requests for comment, Reuters said.

Investors Reportedly Bids For Yankee

The Yankee Candle Company, Inc. has attracted offers from several private equity firms in a sale process that could value the company at about $2 billion, people familiar with the matter said. Advent International Corporation; Ares Management LLC; Bain Capital, LLC; Clayton, Dubilier & Rice, Inc.; and CVC Capital Partners Limited have made it through the first round of bidding and are set to meet with Yankee Candle's management over the next few weeks, the sources added. Madison Dearborn Partners, LLC acquired The Yankee Candle Company, Inc. in 2006.
