Inland American Real Estate Trust Inc. (OTCPK:IARE) is looking for acquisitions. Inland American Real Estate Trust Inc. NorthStar Realty Finance Corp. (NYSE:NRF) and Chatham Lodging Trust (NYSE:CLDT) entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Portfolio of 52 Hotels from Inland American Real Estate Trust Inc. for $1.1 billion. Inland American Real Estate Trust Inc. expects to realize about $480 million of net proceeds as result of the transaction which it expects to use to advance growth strategy of its student housing and retail portfolios, which includes, among other things, acquisitions, debt reduction and general corporate purposes.

Inland American Real Estate Trust Inc. announced that Christopher L. Covey has joined the company as senior vice president of transactions, responsible for guiding the company's acquisition and disposition teams and helping to shape Inland American's strategy going forward. Mr. Covey brings 25 years of extensive experience in the retail real estate sector, with a focus on transaction structures, due diligence and negotiations. Prior to joining Inland American, Mr. Covey served as managing director, acquisitions for Kimco Realty Corporation from 2002 through 2014.
