Air New Zealand Limited has announced launch of a new game, Jump Seat, for the social networking site, Facebook. The new interactive game in Facebook will take players for various missions and fast-paced adventures. As an added incentive, the airline has offered its Facebook fans an opportunity to book an airline flight at a reduced fare, with round trip tickets commencing at USD 798 from Los Angeles and San Francisco to Auckland, New Zealand. Travellers must book their tickets before November 30, 2009 for travel between May 1 and June 8, 2010.

A federal judge has rejected a countersuit against Facebook Inc. that was filed over the summer by Power.com. Facebook sued the startup earlier in the year saying that the way it uses the Palo Alto social networking company's material violates its terms of use. The Power.com countersuit claimed the data it uses belongs to Facebook customers, not the company. U.S. District Judge Jeremy Fogel ruled in San Jose that Power.com's complaints weren't specific enough to determine if they should go forward and left open the possibility that they could be amended within 30 days.

Controversial video game industry critic Jack Thompson sued Facebook in U.S. District Court in Miami last week. He alleged that the company took no steps to remove posts at the site that advocated 'physical harm' against him. Three faxes to the company's corporate headquarters in Palo Alto, Calif., were 'ignored,' and the dangerous posts remained up and available at Facebook. Thompson demanded a jury trial and compensatory damages in an unspecified amount greater than $10 million, along with a punitive damages of more than $30 million, for each of the complaint's three counts: Intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligent infliction of emotional distress and negligent supervision.
