Washington Biotechnology & Biomedical Association Announces Board Changes

Thong Le, managing director for WRF Capital has been named chairman of the board for the Washington Biotechnology & Biomedical Association (WBBA). Le, who previously served as the WBBA's vice chair, will replace outgoing chairman Thomas Clement, co-founder of Pathway Medical Technologies. Clement is moving on to serve as CEO for two life science startups, Aqueduct Neurosciences and Cardiac Insight, notes Xconomy, which first reported Le's appointment. Clement will remain on the WBBA's executive committee. As chairman, Le will help guide the nonprofit's policies and strategy. As managing director for WRF Capital, the investment arm of the Washington Research Foundation, Le invests in companies working with biopharmaceuticals, medical devices, enterprise software and advanced materials. He also serves as a director for companies such as Accelerator, Groove Biopharma and Oncofactor and acts as board observer at Uptake Medical, Alder Biopharmaceuticals and others.
