Xsigo Systems, Inc. Key Developments
Xsigo Systems, Inc. announced the general availability of the Xsigo Data Center Fabric product line. The new product line features improved hardware and software products currently used in 300 fabric deployments. Recent Xsigo fabric deployments include a 55,000-seat VDI fabric at Royal Bank of Scotland by Fujitsu and a large enterprise public cloud deployment by Canadian telecommunications giant TELUS. Xsigo Data Center Fabric is the only open fabric solution designed to work with equipment from all server, storage and virtualization vendors. The primary products in the new line consists of: -Xsigo Fabric Director - Hardware and software solution to build fabrics using both 10G Ethernet or InfiniBand. Supports Fibre Channel connections to existing SANs; -Xsigo Fabric Manager - Software Defined Network solution to manage all I/O connections in a data center from a single graphical interface. Works with x86 servers, storage and network equipment from multiple vendors using an open, standards-based architecture;-Xsigo Fabric Accelerator - Software solution to manage both Ethernet and Fibre Channel traffic within the Xsigo fabric. New features of the Xsigo Data Center Fabric product line include:-Support for all five major hypervisors: Citrix Xen, Microsoft Hyper-V, Oracle Virtual Machine, Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization, and VMware vSphere; -Support for new generations of servers optimized for virtualized data centers: HP Gen 8, Dell 12th Generation and IBM M4 series servers;-Improved connectivity with up to 56 Gbps server-to-server communications using InifiniBand and a new 4 x 10Gb Ethernet module; -New software performance manager to optimize data center efficiency.
Xsigo Systems, Inc. announced that CARFAX, has deployed the Xsigo Data Center Fabric. CARFAX joins the growing list of enterprises worldwide replacing outdated, hard-wired switch and port technologies with Xsigo to significantly increase network performance while simplifying their infrastructure. CARFAX deployed the Xsigo Data Center Fabric to enable a recent migration from rack-based servers to blades in the firm's primary data center. The Xsigo Data Center Fabric provides 40Gb bandwidth to each blade, actually exceeding the bandwidth capacity of the blade itself. Without Xsigo, the blades would have had far less I/O capacity, thus limiting application performance. In addition to the Xsigo Data Center Fabric, the CARFAX deployment also included Dell M1000 blade servers, EMC storage, Oracle VM virtualization software, and Oracle RAC database software. Benefits achieved included 20% to 25% acceleration of Oracle RAC performance and a 33% reduction in data backup time. Xsigo consolidates and virtualizes the connections from servers to networks and storage, resulting in a simpler, more easily managed connectivity environment. With Xsigo, organizations typically reduce network complexity by 70%, lower capital costs by 50%, and gain the flexibility to manage connectivity in seconds rather than requiring hours or days.
Xsigo Systems, Inc. announced that Solutions Healthcare, has successfully deployed Xsigo to meet their fast-growing needs for a scalable, cost-effective and reliable data center infrastructure. To accommodate their 60% annual storage growth, Solutions Healthcare deployed two Xsigo I/O Directors, along with VMware ESX software, Supermicro servers, and Compellent storage. Xsigo's virtual I/O technology consolidates all server connectivity, both storage and networking, to a single cable, greatly simplifying the server infrastructure and accelerating new deployments. Benefits achieved with Xsigo include 77% less infrastructure complexity, 50% savings on server costs, 4X more bandwidth per server than 10Gb Ethernet, and multi-vendor interoperability.
