The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of the Kingdom of Bahrain has announced the appointment of Frontier Economics, Ltd., as the consultancy firm to design and manage a suitable competitive process for the licensing of post 3G mobile telecommunications services in the Kingdom of Bahrain. A decision on the mechanism of the licensing process is expected to be made later this year, following the finalization of the study by the consultancy firm The 2.6 GHz frequency band is the preferred evolutionary path for the provisioning of post 3G mobile telecommunications services for most public mobile operators in the region and is expected to become available in the Kingdom in two tranches.
