Excelitas Technologies Corp. is exploring a sale it hopes will value it at atleast $2 billion, including debt, according to people familiar with the matter. Veritas Capital Fund Management LLC (Veritas Capital), is preparing to launch an auction for Excelitas with the help of investment banks Goldman Sachs Group Inc and Rothschild, the people said on October 29, 2014. The sources asked not to be identified because the sale process is not public. Veritas Capital, Goldman Sachs and Rothschild declined to comment, while an Excelitas spokeswoman did not respond to a request for comment, Reuters reported.

Excelitas Technologies Corp. announced the latest of its digital pyrodetectors, the Low-Power DigiPyro(R) PYD 1688. This new digital pyrodetector operates on reduced power consumption and features sleep mode operation, making it ideal for wireless and battery-operated motion detection applications. As part of the industry's one and only Digital Pyroelectric Infrared Detector Family, the new DigiPyro PYD 1688 was developed for use in both residential and commercial products. It runs on a 3V power supply and features a special sleep mode operation, which helps extend battery life when a device is not in use. This results in greater efficiency in motion sensing, home automation, intrusion alarm and wireless presence detection applications.
