Fininvest Denies Report About AC Milan Sale

Fininvest S.p.A. has denied the media speculation that it is considering selling Associazione Calcio Milan s.p.a. (AC Milan). Bloomberg reported recently that Italian Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconi had engaged a company to look for potential buyers for AC Milan. Fininvest stated, “Despite the numerous denials, rumors return to circulate regarding a possible sale of Milan. Fininvest confirms once again that it (rumor) is just a hypothesis without any foundation.”

Foreign TV Groups Reportedly Interested In Mediaset

Two sources reported that a several foreign TV groups have expressed interest in Mediaset SpA. A source close to the company said, "Mediaset reiterates it has received, as already officially communicated by top management, various signs of interest from several foreign TV operator." After a press report about interest from Qatari investors in the acquisition of Mediaset from Fininvest S.p.A., the shares in Mediaset rose 3.38% to €1.53 on October 15, 2012. According to press reports, foreign players including Russian investors and Sheik of Qatar have shown interest in Mediaset and more particularly in its pay-TV unit Mediaset Premium. A source familiar with matter said, "There have been visits to the company, but nothing that was solicited." Reuters said that Mediaset did not comment on the matter. Mediaset, controlled by former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi said that at the beginning of July 2012, Mediaset had expressed an interest for potential partnerships with Mediaset Premium.
