T-Systems has opened a new data centre campus in Biere, near Magdeburg. This new data centre is Telekom's response to a strong increase in demand for secure cloud services based in Germany. The construction of the twin data centre will generate 30 new jobs in Magdeburg and 100 jobs in Biere.

Deutsche Telekom plans to cut 4,900 jobs at its corporate customer division T-Systems. This is lower than warnings of 6,000 potential job losses by unions at start-2014. T-Systems said that around 2,700 full-time jobs would be cut in Germany in 2014, with a further 2,200 jobs going by end-2015.

T-Systems announced earnings results for the fourth quarter and full year 2013. For the quarter, the company reported revenue of EUR 2.61 billion, down 7.6% from EUR 2.83 billion in fourth quarter of 2012. Revenue at the Market Unit, primarily external business with Deutsche Telekom's corporate customers, fell 1.8% for the year to EUR 7.7 billion, from EUR 7.8 billion, and down 3.8% year-on-year to EUR 2.05 billion, from EUR 2.13 billion in fourth quarter 2012. The market unit recorded a 23.9% year-on-year increase in adjusted EBIT to EUR 83 million. EBITDA was up to EUR 89 million, from EUR 66 million a year earlier. Adjusted EBITDA was down to EUR 207 million, from EUR 246 million a year earlier.
For the full year, revenue was EUR 9.49 billion, down 5.2% from EUR 10.02 billion in 2012. Total order entry fell by 5.5% to EUR 8.3 billion for the full year 2013, and by 34.4% year-on-year to EUR 2.28 billion. EBITDA is up to EUR 390 million for the year, from EUR 347 million. Adjusted EBITDA was up to EUR 806 million for the year, from EUR 747 million.
