The Japan Research Institute, Limited to Shift Systems Development to Ireland

A Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group Inc. unit will begin systems development in Ireland, looking to enjoy the country's low corporate tax rate of 12.5%. The move by Japan Research Institute Ltd. will likely make it the first Japanese firm to enter Ireland since the country's fiscal crisis last November. An Irish unit formed by a U.S. subsidiary of Japan Research will take over the work previously outsourced to India as early as this month, developing systems for European and U.S. locations of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp. The development team will start with about 20 members in the first year and expand to around 100 after five years.
