Inmarsat Glkobal reported unaudited earnings results for the half year ended June 30, 2014. For the half year, the company reported total revenues were $451.9 million against $403.9 million a year ago. MSS revenues increased by $7.1 million, or 1.9%, in the same period. The remainder of the increase in total revenues in the half year ended 30 June 2014 is primarily due to an increase in revenues recognised in relation to LightSquared Cooperation Agreement. MSS revenue growth was primarily driven by increased activations and usage of FleetBroadband and SwiftBroadband services and by the effect of price initiatives for certain maritime data services implemented on 1 January 2014. EBITDA increased by $39.7 million, or 13.7%, in the half year ended 30 June 2014, compared with the half year ended 30 June 2013. Operating profit therefore decreased by $14.7 million, or 6.9%, in the half year ended 30 June 2014, compared with the half year ended 30 June 2013. Capital expenditure was $185.6 million compared to $303.9 million a year ago.
For the year 2014, the company expects Inmarsat Global MSS revenues, will be correspondingly lower than previously expected over 2014-16. However, the company expects continue to expect Inmarsat Global MSS revenues to fall within the 8% to 12% CAGR growth range for 2014-16 expressed in medium-term guidance.
