ArcelorMittal Denied Reports To Sell Majority Stake In Annaba Spa

ArcelorMittal is not seeking to sell stake in ArcelorMittal Annaba Spa, ArcelorMittal said in company statement received by Platts. According to local press reports in Algeria, Entreprise nationale de siderurgie is seeking to increase its stake to become a majority shareholder in Annaba. However, ArcelorMittal confirmed that it is currently in discussions with the Algerian ministry of industry to finalize investments aimed at increasing steel production at the Annaba works.

Sider Reportedly Plans To Acquire Majority Stake In ArcelorMittal Annaba

According to AFP, the Algerian government via Entreprise nationale de siderurgie (Sider) might acquire a majority stake in the Algerian subsidiary of ArcelorMittal. Sider already owns 30% in ArcelorMittal Annaba Spa. and is planning to raise its holding to 51%. The potential transaction is expected to be worth approximately $200 million. The proceeds from the deal will be used to improve ArcelorMittal Algeria's financial situation.
