DisplayLink announced the official launch of its DL-5900 USB 3.0 dual-head chipset with support for 4K resolution, integrated audio, and Gigabit Ethernet. The DL-5900 is the third chip in the DL-5000 family from DisplayLink since CES 2014. The new DL-5900 brings dual-head support to the DL-5000 range, adding support for users to connect dual displays up to 2048x1152 resolution or a single 3840x2160 UHD or 2560x1600 (2K), future proofing IT connectivity and expansion. DisplayLink's sophisticated algorithms preserve a no-compromise user experience by dynamically adjusting compression based on multiple factors including bandwidth, throughput, and link status, making it the ideal solution for universal docking stations. With the universality of USB on all compute devices and platforms, enterprise IT professionals can easily deploy flexible docking strategies. The DisplayLink DL-5900 launch is accompanied by DisplayLink's proven software drivers with updates available from DisplayLink website. DisplayLink Corp. and I-O Data Device, Inc. announced that both parties are developing the World's First 4K USB Graphics Adapter using DisplayLink's award winning DL-5500 USB Graphics Chipset. I-O DATA's new 4K universal graphics adapter is the first shipping USB 3 UHD solution globally and brings universal graphics expansion to displays with resolutions up to 3840x2160 pixels via a single USB cable connection to the host and a DisplayPort connection to the monitor. A prototype of the new 4K USB Graphics Adapter from I-O DATA, is on show to press and partners in DisplayLink's booth at Computex 2014 and will be available to for purchase soon.
DisplayLink and ROHM Co., Ltd. Announces USB Power Delivery Solutions

DisplayLink and ROHM Semiconductor announced they will demonstrate USB power delivery solutions at CES integrating the ROHM BD-92101 USB power delivery chipset combined with USB Graphics and docking chipset solutions from DisplayLink in products at CES 2014. Notebooks, tablets, and peripherals such as hard disk drives, cameras, and more recently displays have derived power over USB 2.0 and 3.0 interfaces enabling simple connections for power and data eliminating the need for large cumbersome travel adapters. Mobile phones are now almost exclusively USB for charging and data transfer. ROHM has developed chipsets to enable power over USB (USB Power Delivery) for notebooks, tablets, phones, monitors and peripherals such as docking stations delivering up to 100 Watts, 10 times the power of existing power solutions, while enabling USB3 SuperSpeed data over the same cable. The new ROHM BD-92101 USB-PD Controller chipset from ROHM is the first integrated solution to implement the USB Power Delivery specification. With up to 10 times the power of legacy solutions, it will deliver faster charging of mobile devices such as notebooks, tablets and phones while extending the breadth of peripherals that can be used over USB with a single cable. Products utilizing the ROHM USB power delivery chipset will be available to users beginning in the second half of 2014.
