Wizz Air selects IT solutions from Lufthansa Systems AG

Lufthansa Systems AG announced that Wizz Air has opted for its flight planning and navigation solutions. As a result, Wizz Air will be planning routes based on the Lido/Flight flight planning solution while using the electronic navigation charts of Lido/eRouteManual during flights. Both companies recently signed agreements to this effect. The IT solutions will enable Wizz Air to benefit from efficient route planning, cost reductions and fuel savings. With its modern and user-friendly architecture, Lido/Flight covers all aspects of flight planning. The system provides dispatchers with numerous optimization options regarding flight time, fuel consumption or costs of each flight. Taking into account the latest flight-related data such as weather conditions, total weight and the air traffic situation, Lido/Flight calculates the best routes for each flight from all available options. Lido/Flight also offers a high degree of automation, which considerably eases the workload of flight dispatchers. Lido/eRouteManual includes electronic navigation charts for take-off and landing procedures as well as airport and route charts. These charts are generated based on the Lido/FMS (Flight Management System) navigation database, which contains worldwide aeronautical information and topographical data comprising all important route information including altitude and airport data. The charts also display true-to-scale geographic information such as terrain features and rivers. All Lido/FMS data are updated every 28 days according to the AIRAC cycle. These updates can be transferred to the electronic navigation charts more quickly and easily. Lido/eRouteManual is clearly structured and easy-to-read, giving pilots all of the important information they need at a glance. The level of detail presented in the different zoom levels of the dynamic route charts can be adjusted as needed. The paperless version is also lighter and more ecological.

Lufthansa Systems Launches Customized Public Cloud Service for SMEs

Lufthansa Systems AG announced that it is now offering a public cloud product that meets all of these demands: CloudLounge. With this innovative product, the IT service provider is targeting new customer groups, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). At the same time, CloudLounge completes the range of cloud services from Lufthansa Systems, enabling the company to provide corporate customers with high-quality private, hybrid and public cloud services along with dedicated resources in its modern data centers. CloudLounge is based on the vCloud Director technology from VMware. While Lufthansa Systems is offering a variety of service packages at fixed prices, enterprise customers can also put together their own individually priced combinations of services. Customers pay for the services by credit card. CloudLounge is accessed via a user-friendly online portal. Using slider controls, customers can configure the amount of computing power, working memory, IP addresses and storage space that they need and immediately see the cost of their selected configuration. Once they have registered on the portal, an automated process kicks in and the requested resources are available within just a few minutes. After a brief introduction, enterprises can use their virtual data centers. CloudLounge is accessible worldwide. The hosted data is stored in the Lufthansa Systems data center in Kelsterbach near Frankfurt, one of Europe’s most facilities.
