AAR Reportedly Not To Submit Bid For BP's Stake In TNK-BP

AAR, consortium of Access Industries, Inc., Alfa Group Consortium and Renova Group of Companies, will not submit bid to acquire BP plc’s stake in TNK-BP Ltd. because it hasn't been able to raise sufficient funds, people close to AAR said. "While we probably could have raised sufficient financing if allowed some additional time, we also understood that BP had already made up its mind, and would not be interested in our offer. Therefore we chose not to proceed with the effort to raise financing and decided not to place the bid," one of the people said. The source said that many key banks were already committed to Rosneft Oil Company and BP and were unable to fund AAR due to an exclusivity arrangement already in place with some of the major financial institutions. "As a result, we were unable to finalize the competitive deal we had in mind in the initial time frame," the person said.

AAR Alliance which consists of Access Industries, Inc.; Alfa Group Consortium; Renova Group of Companies has announced signing a deal with Rothschild to organize a syndication which will help to acquire 50% stake in TNK-BP Ltd. from BP plc, PRIME reported. AAR is going to make a proposal in mid-October, which can involve an IPO or attracting an anchor investor, Kommersant reported. It was already reported that AAR is going to make an all-cash offer of $20 billion-$30 billion for a 50% stake in TNK-BP.

Access Industries, Inc., Alfa Group Consortium and Renova Group of Companies are reportedly willing to acquire entire BP plc stake in TNK-BP Ltd., foreign press reported, citing an anonymous sources familiar with the consortium's plans. Earlier Alfa Access Renova (AAR) announced it was discussing the purchase of half of the BP stake in TNK-BP. Sources also said that AAR has started talking to banks about finance for the deal.
