Emerson Network Power Launches Upgraded 40G ATCA Blade With Latest Intel Xeon Processors

Emerson Network Power announced a new 40G ATCA(R) blade, powered by the new 10-core Intel(R) Xeon(R) processor E5-2600 v2 family, designed for optimized and efficient performance. The Emerson ATCA-7475 teams two of the new processors with two Intel(R) Communications Chipset 89xx Series devices for balanced offload acceleration. The new blade also provides the fast possible memory subsystem and full bandwidth active/active 40G fabric interfaces to enable the high performance packet processing and security applications in network data centers or telecom central offices. A wide range of rear transition modules (RTMs) provides unrivalled flexibility in storage and I/O, making it easier for network equipment providers to integrate Emerson's ATCA-7475 into different network infrastructures. The new blade is designed to provide a smooth migration path for users of Emerson's ATCA-7470 packet processing blade and a performance and functionality boost for users of other ATCA blades based on Intel Xeon processors. By implementing packet processing together with other data plane and control plane functions on a single, Intel platform, network equipment providers can benefit from lower development costs and the use of common tool suites, helping enable faster time to market, as well as the ability to balance workloads efficiently across the available hardware resources. A key feature enabling this consolidation is the Intel(R) Data Plane Development Kit (Intel(R) DPDK), which is fully supported by Emerson's ATCA-7475. The optimized libraries included in Intel DPDK enable fast packet movement in the data plane using multi-core Intel processors, and Intel DPDK thus enables the faster execution of packet processing workloads across the network without sacrificing security. The ATCA-7475 is optimized to work with Emerson Network Power's range of ATCA system platforms which cover two-slot, six-slot and 14-slot variants that are designed to meet the need of both telecom central office and network data center environments.
Emerson Network Power Launches Flexible Rack/Row UPS, Delivering Capacity-On-Demand Without Increasing Footprint

Emerson Network Power launched the Liebert® APS uninterruptible power supply system (UPS) with FlexPower™ technology. The Liebert APS system supports power requirements of up to 20kVA/18kW. It eliminates the need to over provision, increasing operational efficiency and contributing to the UPS system’s low total cost of ownership (TCO). As a result, the system can achieve up to 92% efficiency in double-conversion mode, making it a higher efficiency UPS in its class. The Liebert APS UPS is available globally. To enhance system availability, the Liebert APS UPS has a fully redundant design, allowing the critical load to run on conditioned power regardless of any single failure within the system. It has a wrap-around maintenance bypass, so the connected load can keep running while the system is being serviced. Its modular scalability allows Liebert APS system users to quickly add power capacity or back-up runtime to support changing rack equipment power requirements without powering down. The system is also available in transformer-based models that provide electrical isolation for even higher reliability. The Liebert APS UPS is enabled with Emerson’s LIFE™ remote diagnostic and real-time communication technology, which provides proactive maintenance, decreasing the average Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) and improving Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF). The Liebert APS system is designed for small- to medium-sized sites that expect increasing power requirements as they upgrade to larger servers, add storage capacity and use more powerful processors to meet growing demand for resource-intensive applications. FlexPower modules allow power capacity to grow in 5kVA /4.5kW increments up to 15kVA/13.5kW or 20kVA/18kW. Battery modules may also be added as needed to increase backup time. FlexPower modules and battery modules are hot swappable, and can be added or replaced by the user. The Liebert APS UPS can be installed in any data center or network environment – on raised or non-raised floors, or in standard rack enclosures. Three IntelliSlot ports allow multiple modes of communication and control. The UPS system has out-of-the-box compatibility with Emerson Network Power’s data center infrastructure management (DCIM) system, the Trellis™ platform, and is also compatible with the Liebert Nform and Liebert SiteScan™ monitoring and reporting systems. The Liebert APS UPS includes Liebert MultiLink™ shutdown software for reliable and safe shutdown of protected applications.
Emerson Network Power Introduces the Family of ASCO® 5400 Series Power Quality Meters

Emerson Network Power introduced the family of ASCO® 5400 Series Power Quality Meters that capture every event that occurs in on-site power systems, no matter how fast or small. Continuous, high-speed wave form recording and transient harmonic displays are what enable the ASCO Power Quality Meters to capture and present complete data on sags, swells and other events. The meters also track and store data on Time-of-Day energy consumption, flicker, crest and K-factor. They aggregate and synchronize events from multiple meters to the millisecond with ITIC1 compliance curves. Continuous wave form recording eliminates setting thresholds, triggers and events. PowerQuest Analytics, which are part of ASCO PowerQuest™ 5790 and 5900 Critical Power Management Systems, enable facility managers to use the data to accurately diagnose events and identify underlying issues for resolution. Tools in the software that capture events and analyze power quality also help facility managers diagnose how efficiently their facilities are operating. They then have the insight on how to reduce energy and infrastructure costs, and increase overall reliability. ASCO Power Quality Meters generate automated reports for prescheduled periods and export them in COMTRADE and PQDIF (event reports), PDF, EXCEL, HTML and TXT (all other reports). They provide compliance testing to parameters in accordance with EN50160 and IEC 61000-4-15 /IEC 61000-4-30. During power outages, a 25-second power ride-through provides uninterrupted data recording. ASCO Power Quality Meters can capture data from gen-sets, utility mains, power transfer switches, UPSs, paralleling gear, TVSS, PDUs and critical power distribution boards. The family of ASCO Series 5400 Power Quality Meters comprises three models: the Series 5490, Series 5450 and Series 5410. The ASCO Series 5490 includes a meter and remote display with integrated Web pages. It's designed for such mission-critical applications as data centers, hospitals and utilities. The ASCO Series 5450 is a mid-range meter with remote display that can store 30 days of data. The ASCO Series 5410 is a compact, economical meter without a remote display. All ASCO Series 5400 Power Quality Meters include a built-in temperature signal gauge that ensures the meter's accuracy in hot environments, and all can be integrated with ASCO PowerQuest Power Monitoring and Control Systems. And all are appropriate for both new construction and retrofits.
