Sistema Shyam Teleservices Limited Reports Earnings Results for the Second Quarter Ended June 2014

Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited reported earnings results for the second quarter ended June 2014. For the quarter, the company reported revenues of INR 3.34 billion, an increase of 15% compared to the year-ago period. The firm also recorded a net loss of INR 4.02 billion in the quarter, compared to a net loss of INR 8.44 billion in the year-ago period. SSTL's OIBDA remains negative at minus INR 1.365 billion ($22.7 million). The OIBDA loss was INR 2.193 billion a year earlier and INR 975 million in the first quarter of 2014. The OIBDA margin improved to minus 41% in the second quarter from minus 75% a year earlier.

SSTL Mulls Acquisitions

Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited (SSTL) is looking forward to acquire at least four blocks of contiguous spectrum in the coming months. "We are working on plans towards acquisition of four more contiguous spectrum in our effort to expand our network," Dmitry Shukov, Chief Executive Officer of SSTL, said.

Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited (SSTL) has announced key leadership appointments in Karnataka and UP West circles. While Umesh Durve has been appointed as the Chief Operating Officer of Karnataka Circle, Siraj Abbasi will take charge of the company's business in UP West circle. The two new appointments will further strengthen the circle leadership team at MTS India. Both Siraj Abbasi and Umesh Durve will report directly to Dmitry Shukov, CEO, MTS India. Prior to joining MTS India, Umesh was associated with Bharti Airtel Ltd. as Vice President of Market Operations. Siraj's last assignment was with Reliance Communications, Lucknow as Circle Business Head, UP.
