Association of Chartered Certified Accountants Announces New Appointments

The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) has appointed Datin Alexandra Chin as its vice-president for the 2013/14 term. Chin, who has 32 years of experience in the public practice, was the first woman from Asia to serve as an Officer with the council. In the same election, immediate past president of Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), Datuk Mohd Nasir Ahmad was elected as a member of the ACCA Council, which has 37 members from 17 different countries.
ACCA Appoints Stuart Dunlop as New Regional Director for MENASA

ACCA appointed new regional Director for MENASA. Stuart Dunlop, who is based in Dubai, will be responsible for ACCA's services to more than 40,000 students and over 2,000 members in the region, leading and managing ACCA's teams which are based in Oman, Pakistan and the UAE and which also cover Bahrain, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, and Yemen. He joined the Reuters Group in 1992 and held sales and marketing management positions in South Africa, Switzerland, London and finally Dubai. He has spent ten years in the Middle East, initially heading up the Sales and Marketing function for Reuters and latterly establishing the Thomson Reuters Professional business - which includes legal and scientific businesses - in the region.
Association of Chartered Certified Accountants Appoints Leong Soo Yee as Head of its Singapore Business

Association of Chartered Certified Accountants has appointed Leong Soo Yee as head of its Singapore business with immediate effect. Before joining ACCA, Ms. Leong spent three years at AIA Singapore, where she held key positions in marketing, customer service, sales and business development for partnership distribution channels to grow its bancassurance, brokerage and financial advisory channels. And before AIA, she clocked eight years at Citibank Singapore, where she spearheaded initiatives as vice-president of marketing and engagement to drive the revenue growth of Citibank's offshore priority banking segment. During her time at Citibank, Ms. Leong also re-positioned CitiGold priority banking to a wealth management platform to meet its offshore clients' evolving needs. She had previously served as marketing manager for Tricon Restaurants, where she helped to improve advertising executions and develop new products, including launching fast-food chain KFC's breakfast segment. She started her career as a marketing communications manager at Shell Eastern Petroleum, where she held various marketing and sales roles in the retail section.
