Rovio Reports Earnings Results for 2013
Apr 29 14
Rovio reported earnings results for 2013. For the period, the company reported that its net profit dropped more than 50% last year, to $37 million, compared with the previous year. The decline comes as the company tries to respond to changes in the gaming world, where the likes of King Digital Entertainment, the maker of Candy Crush, and Supercell, the Finnish company behind the Clash of Clans franchise, have found success with so-called freemium games. Those companies let people play their games free, but charge for in-game purchases, unlike the company, which has traditionally charged users to download its games. The company’s revenue fell slightly last year, to $216 million, compared with 2012.
