The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse Appoints Samuel A. Ball as President and Chief Executive Officer

The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse announced the appointment of Samuel A. Ball as President and Chief Executive Officer. Under Dr. Ball, The Center will strengthen its mission of translating the scientific findings of scholars and scientific researchers about addictions and addictive behaviors into clinical health care and public health practice, public policy to guide justice, education, social service and other public systems. Dr. Ball has been principal investigator and co-investigator on numerous National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) funded psychotherapy clinical trials. He is the developer of Dual Focus Schema Therapy for addicted patients with personality disorders. He led the implementation of the national train-the-trainer model for Motivational Interviewing in NIDA's Clinical Trial's Network (CTN), where he served as the national chair of the CTN Training Committee overseeing activities of directors of training at academic research and training centers across the country.
