DineEquity, Inc. announced that Steven Layt has been appointed President of Applebee's, effective February 25, 2014. Michael Archer, former President of Applebee's, is leaving to pursue other opportunities. Mr. Layt has held the role of Senior Vice President of Operations for Applebee's since January of 2012. Prior to joining DineEquity, Mr. Layt was the Chief Operating Officer at Buffets Inc. and held a number of senior management positions globally and in the United States with YUM! Brands.
Applebee's to Close Kingston Pike Restaurant

Applebee’s restaurant in West Knoxville will close at the end of the month. The location at 6928 Kingston Pike near Papermill Drive, Ala.-based franchisee Quality Restaurant Concepts. It will close December 29, when its lease is up. Employees were offered positions at other stores, including Cedar Bluff, Oak Ridge, Merchants Drive, Knoxville Center, Alcoa and Sevierville.

The Honey Pepper Sirloin, part of Applebee's new Honey Pepper Grill menu, is a 7oz. sirloin served on a bed of potatoes and topped with fried jalapenos and onion straws. Honey Pepper sauce is drizzled over the dish giving it that perfect blend of hot and sweet.
