Discera, Inc. announced the availability of the clock generator solution. The DSC2311 enables smaller and more reliable mobile, networking, storage, and video products by replacing two discrete crystals or crystal oscillators and four passive components with a single miniature crystal-less(TM) clock generator. This new device delivers frequencies up to 170 MHz and operating temperatures up to 125 degrees Celsius in the PCB footprint of a 1.0 mm x 1.0 mm crystal-based clock generator solution. Standard configurations of the DSC2311 are available to meet the clock reference requirements of camera and Wi-Fi modules, e-Readers and tablets, PON and DSL modems, solid state and hard disk drives, and other popular applications. The DSC2311 can be used in any design using multiple crystal or crystal oscillators as clock references. Key features include: Two discrete CMOS frequency outputs factory configurable from 2.3 to 170 MHz. Frequency stability up to 10 ppm across temperature and voltage. Operating temperature ranges up to 125 degrees Celsius. Ultra-low phase noise jitter of 300 femto seconds RMS (integrated 200 kHz to 20 MHz). Greater reliability with 20 times higher MTBF than crystal-based clock generators. Mechanical shock resistance up to 50,000 G. AEC-Q100 qualification for automotive applications. The DSC2311 is available now and offers semiconductor grade reliability and programmability with better performance and a smaller footprint than any clock generator device in production.
Discera, Inc. Announces DSC557-03 Crystal-less PCIe Clock Generators

Discera, Inc. announced the DSC557-03, the first family of crystal-less PCIe Clock Generators, is shipping in volume production. The DSC557-03 is a crystal-less, two-output PCI express clock generator meeting Gen1, Gen2, and Gen3 specifications. It uses proven silicon MEMS technology to provide PCIe compliant 100MHz differential output clocks with excellent jitter and stability over a wide range of supply voltages and temperatures. Design flexibility is another benefit of the company's MEMS-based products. By eliminating the external quartz crystal, caps and tuning resistor, the DSC557-03 significantly enhances reliability and accelerates product development, while meeting stringent clock performance criteria for a variety of communications, storage, embedded and networking applications. Jitter, temperature range, power consumption and a variety of available output formats are important design considerations for components designed for communications, storage and networking, and designers need the products that provide best in class capabilities in each category. And by eliminating the need for a crystal and other components, system board designers can reduce cost and board size. 65% lower in jitter than IDT's compatible part (0.15pS vs 0.48pS) and 85% lower than the 1pS(max) PCIe Gen3 spec. DSC557-03 draws 25% lower power than IDT's compatible device (60mA vs 85mA). The DSC557-03 supports multiple differential formats: HCSL, LVPECL, LVDS, or any combination of these. The comparable IDT part only supports HCSL. The DSC557-03 is available now in two different packages; a drop-in replacement 16 pin TSSOP or a space-saving 14 pin QFP (77% less board space) ranging from $1.83 to $2.15 for 1K units.
