Hillcrest Labs and Ozmo, Inc. Announce an Integrated Motion Sensing Solution with Wi-Fi Direct Technologies

Hillcrest Laboratories, Inc. announced an integrated motion sensing solution with Wi-Fi Direct technologies from Ozmo, Inc. The joint solution combines Hillcrest's MotionEngine(TM) Smart TV software with Ozmo's ultra-low power, low-cost Wi-Fi Direct technologies for manufacturers of remote controls, Smart TVs, set-top boxes, and streaming media players. Multiple companies will unveil new products using the joint solution from Hillcrest and Ozmo in early 2013.

Haier Group to Develop Ozmo-Based Wi-Fi Direct Peripherals for Its New Line of Smart TVs

Ozmo, Inc. announced that Haier Group will develop Ozmo-based Wi-Fi direct peripherals for its new line of Smart TVs. The wireless Wi-Fi accessories for Haier's 2013 Smart TV models will likely include a remote control, a microphone, and a variety of other innovative human interface products. Ozmo's Wi-Fi Direct technology, unlike other RF technologies, utilizes the Wi-Fi adapter already included in the TV, set-top box, Blu-Ray, PC or mobile device, eliminating the need to add another RF module to the platform. This allows the platform developer to avoid costly hardware and software complications associated with Bluetooth, RF4CE, or other proprietary short-range RF technologies. Wi-Fi PAN from Ozmo allows this without compromising cost, latency, battery life or quality of the consumer experience. Wi-Fi Direct is the software-based extension of standard Wi-Fi, which allows Wi-Fi devices to communicate directly without the need for an access point or router. The Wi-Fi adapter in the TV can simultaneously provide an Internet connection and also multiple Wi-Fi Direct connections to peripherals such as a TV remote or microphone. For Smart TV developers, Wi-Fi technology, especially as it is embodied in the OZMO2000 chip, is the ideal solution for any short-range peripheral due to its support of a ubiquitous standard and delivery of extremely high bit-rates.
