Sanford Aberdeen Medical Center announced the successful implementation of the most advanced critical care telemedicine program available in hospital intensive care units. On July 16, the hospital partnered with Advanced ICU Care(R), the nation's independent provider of tele-ICU services, to deliver monitoring by highly trained intensivist physicians and critical care specialists 24 hours a day, seven days a week, providing an extra layer of care that enhances patient care and safety. Advanced ICU Care's team of intensivists and critical care nurses work around-the-clock complementing the care provided by the Sanford Aberdeen Medical Center physicians. The program continuously monitors patient vital signs, medications, labs and clinical status. Proactive data management tools identify problems before they become urgent, prompting immediate intervention when necessary. Two-way video access in each patient's room enables face-to-face consultations between the bedside and Advanced ICU Care team.

Advanced ICU Care, Inc. announced the opening of a new monitoring center in the New York City to provide expanded 24/7 management of critically ill patients by intensivist physicians to hospitals nationwide. The company also announced the appointment of Thomas Kalb, M.D., as its Associate Medical Director for the New York Center. Prior to joining the company, he was the Director, Division of Critical Care Medicine and Director of the Cardiothoracic ICU and the Cardiac Progressive Care Unit at Mount Sinai Medical Center, New York.
