Validus Holdings, Ltd. reported unaudited earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2012. For the quarter, the company’s net premiums earned were $242.7 million compared to $224.3 million for the three months ended June 30, 2011, an increase of $18.4 million, or 8.2%. Underwriting income was $136.304 million compared to $78.357 million a year ago. For the six months, the company’s net premiums earned were $495.7 million compared to $473.2 million for the six months ended June 30, 2011, an increase of $22.5 million, or 4.7%. Underwriting income was $207.193 million compared to underwriting loss of $36.63 million a year ago.

Validus Holdings, Ltd. announced a number of senior management promotions at Validus Reinsurance, Ltd. Kean D. Driscoll, currently Chief Underwriting Officer of Validus Re, has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Validus Re. Jeff M. Clements, currently Head of U.S. Property and Specialty underwriting at Validus Re has been appointed Chief Underwriting Officer. Paul D. Manders, currently Executive Vice President of Marine Underwriting at Validus Re will also now be Head of Specialty Underwriting. The promotions of Kean Driscoll, Jeff Clements and Paul Manders are subject to approval by the Bermuda Department of Immigration.
