Artesyn Embedded Technologies Announces New Series of 20W High Density DC-DC Converters for Industrial and Rugged Applications

Artesyn Embedded Technologies announced the new AXA series of compact 20 W high power density dc-dc converters designed to be used in applications such as battery-operated equipment, instrumentation, distributed power architectures in communications and industrial electronics and other space critical-applications. A fully potted and metal cased construction makes the Artesyn AXA series an ideal choice for harsh environments and enables the modules to operate between minus 40 and plus 85 degrees Celsius. An optional clip-on heat sink is available to extend the thermal performance of the unit in a convection or forced-air environment. Artesyn AXA series modules cover an ultra-wide 4:1 input voltage range of 9 to 36 Vdc and 18 to 75 Vdc. The first models available offer single output models with voltages of 3.3, 5, 12, 15 and 24 V along with dual output models offering +/- 12 or 15 V, all with tight output voltage regulation. Enclosed in a 1.0 x 1.0 x 0.4 inch (25.4 x 25.4 x 10.16 mm) package, the Artesyn AXA series offers up to 89% efficiency. The converters offer additional features such as overload protection, remote on/off control, input-to-output isolation voltage of 1500 Vdc, and the output voltage can be trimmed by +/- 10% of the nominal output. All models are approved to CSA/NTRL/IEC/EN 60950-1 for IT equipment.
Artesyn Embedded Technologies Announces New 85 Watt 1/16th Brick Fully Regulated DC-DC Converter

Artesyn Embedded Technologies announced the new AVD85 family of 85 Watt, 1/16th brick, high efficiency, fully regulated DC-DC converters. The AVD85 offers excellent thermal performance, high power density of 72.5 W/in2 and delivers a peak efficiency of 92%. Optimized for high density applications with restricted space, the AVD85 family provides an adjustable output voltage range with a 36 Vdc to 75 Vdc input range. The high efficiency of the 1/16th brick converters yields an almost flat derating curve - for the baseplate version of the module - to 85 degrees Celsius ambient temperature under forced airflow conditions. The 3.3 and 12 V modules are the first voltage variants available as standard with the 5 V variant to follow. Standard product options include baseplate and open-frame, surface-mount or plated through-hole with different pin lengths and positive and negative enable options. The AVD85 and other new dc-dc product ranges will be available through the company's global channel network Artesyn's portfolio of dc-dc conversion products includes isolated DC-DC converters, covering industry-standard sixteenth to full-brick form factors and power ratings from 6 to 800 watts, and five application-optimized families of non-isolated dc-dc converters. The company also produces non-isolated memory power and voltage regulator modules (VRMs) for processors, as well as a series of special 300 V input high power dc-dc converters and power conditioning modules.

Artesyn Embedded Technologies announced the AdvancedTCA(R) (ATCA(R)) system, the Centellis 8000 series. With power and cooling for up to 600 watts per blade, Artesyn's Centellis 8000 series can easily accommodate a full payload of today's performance ATCA blades and offers a future-proof platform for higher powered processors. Artesyn has pre-certified a range of application-ready configurations of the Centellis 8000 series for NEBS Level 3 to save customers development time and cost. The new ATCA systems can be deployed in existing networks as well as emerging Software Defined Networks (SDN) and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) deployments. A wide variety of payload blades and software enable it to be deployed in a range of applications such as session border controllers, content optimization and security appliances. AC and DC versions make the platform suitable for telecom central office, network data center and enterprise data center deployments. The Centellis 8000 series supports the company's recently announced System Services Framework (SSF) software, a centralized management software suite to configure and monitor software and hardware components in a single shelf or complex system of multiple ATCA shelves. Artesyn believes that SSF could save up to 40% of customers' time-to-market. The Centellis 8000 series also supports Artesyn's FlowPilot software for advanced load balancing and packet classification, directing traffic flow to individual payload processors for further processing. A Centellis 8000 system is 18U (798mm) high and designed for standard 19 inch rack mounting. It features a 40GbE dual-star fabric interface and 14 blade slots, including two switching slots into which Artesyn's 40G combined switching and system management blade (ATCA-F140) can be integrated. The ATCA-F140 can be customized through an AMC site, hard drive bay and optional telecom clocking module as well as numerous factory build and customer-field-configurable options.
