This Is Global Limited Key Developments

This Is Global Updates On Radio Stations Sale

This Is Global Limited is looking to sell off three radio stations in a bid to appease the Competition Commission's concerns over its £70 million acquisition of GMG Radio. The stations up for sale are the Real XS in Manchester and Scotland and This Is Global’s Gold in the east Midlands. The stations will be offered for sale if the Competition Commission concludes in its final report that a sale is necessary. "Whilst not accepting that an SLC [substantial lessoning of competition] actually exists, Global has engaged with the [Competition Commission's] standard process which requires provisional remedies to be proposed at this time, should they be required at the conclusion of the process," This Is Global said in a statement.

This Is Global Might Sell Some Stations

This Is Global Limited might have to sell some of the stations it acquired in the buyout of GMG Radio. Global acquired GMG in June 2102, but the Competition Commission launched an investigation into the deal and has issued a provisional decision saying the acquisition could lead to a loss of competition and higher prices for advertisers in Greater Manchester, the East Midlands, Cardiff, north Wales, the north east, South and West Yorkshire and central Scotland. A consultation on the provisional decision has been opened and the parties that are interested have been asked to make their submissions by March 6, 2013. Global said: It is important to note that, as provisional findings, these do not represent the Competition Commission's final report.
