WeFi, Inc. Key Developments
WeFi, Inc. is helping mobile network operators (MNOs) and cable TV multiple systems operators (MSOs) maximize their infrastructure enhancement opportunities with commercial launch of its User Experience Topology (UXT) interactive research solution. WeFi's UXT gives service providers multiple ways to research, visualize and analyze an unprecedented amount of real-time and historical information collected by the company's WeANDSF (WeFi enhanced Access Network Discovery and Selection Function) 'always best connected' solution, which ensures subscribers are always connected to the best Wi-Fi hotspot, small cell or mobile network. WeANDSF ensures service providers that their end users enjoy the best possible mobile broadband experience, regardless of delivery network whether it's a service provider's own Wi-Fi or cellular network or those of other network operators. WeANDSF is also the only solution of its kind to continually utilize 'anonymized' data that is crowd sourced from millions of mobile device users all over the world. This data includes the services used (e.g., voice, video, text, email, etc.), the bandwidth consumed at each location and how user experiences fluctuate over time. UXT allows customers to display, analyze and interact with this always up-to-date and dynamically growing dataset visually in topographic maps showing the activity of every Wi-Fi hot spot or cellular base station in a city. The combination of WeANDSF and UXT enables MNOs and MSOs to ensure their subscribers are always connected to the best base station or access point, and that additional infrastructure is only deployed precisely where needed to cover gaps in coverage or to enhance available capacity, helping contain capital and operational costs, and most importantly providing the best end user experience possible. Major MNOs and MSOs, such as Time Warner Cable, already rely on WeANDSF and UXT as key components of their Wi-Fi efforts. For MNOs, a key goal is to reduce the congestion on their cellular networks by offloading data users onto Wi-Fi hotspots or small cells. While seemingly straightforward, MNOs must ensure that their customers do not suffer a poor experience when offloaded or they risk losing these customers. WeANDSF addresses this by only offloading when and where the network used for offloading a Wi-Fi hotspot or a small-cell is predicted with very high certainty to provide an equal if not substantially better quality mobile broadband experience.
WeFi, Inc. announced the availability of its latest PRO version of its popular Wi-Fi connectivity app for Android, featuring automatic and seamless Wi-Fi connectivity, optimization of the phone's battery life, boosted navigation features, additional language support for Spanish and Catalan, and an interactive map of nearby Wi-Fi hotspots, to name a few. Android users can now download WeFi PRO free from Google Play. WeFi PRO leverages anonymous crowd-sourced data to make dynamic real-time decisions driven by patented algorithms. Furthermore, WeFi has a database with more than 150 million Wi-Fi locations worldwide, giving WeFi PRO users the widest selection of fast and free Wi-Fi networks to choose from. WeFi PRO brings even more features to the standard app, which already enabled users to reduce data usage charges, maximize battery life and connect users to the safe and strongest Wi-Fi networks. For users concerned with battery life when they use Wi-Fi, WeFi PRO automatically manages the Wi-Fi radio in their device, by automatically switching it ON when the chances are high for connection to a quality Wi-Fi network, and OFF as soon as such possibility is reduced. With WeFi PRO users enjoy very long battery life between charging, while still getting the best available mobile broadband experience.
WeFi, Inc. announced the successful deployment of its WeANDSF(TM) Wi-Fi network management solution with Time Warner Cable's TWC WiFi(TM) service, completing the launch of a multi-year agreement. WeANDSF (which stands for WeFi Enhanced Access Network Discovery and Selection Function) is the industry's most comprehensive network management solution for wireless carrier mobile data offloading and cable MSO mobile Internet onloading, assuring operators their end-users always use the best possible wireless connection. The WeANDSF allows the cable giant to deliver a best-in-class wireless data service to its subscribers. WeFi's WeANDSF solution was first developed for mobile operators to intelligently manage mobile device offloading from saturated mobile data networks to available Wi-Fi networks. Adapted for cable operators to manage the onloading of data traffic to their super-fast Wi-Fi services, WeFi's WeANDSF solution allows Time Warner Cable to set network management policies and priorities. WeANDSF optimizes data traffic and utilizes all types of Wi-Fi networks, such as public hotspots deployed by TWC WiFi and its CableWiFi(TM) partners, home and office networks and millions of other public Wi-Fi spots.
