Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (du) announced earnings results for the third quarter of 2014. The company reported an 18% increase in third-quarter net profit to AED 559 million compared to AED 474 million during the same period last year, fuelled by an uptick in fixed revenue of 36 % and an 11% rise in mobile data revenues. The telecom operator's revenues grew to more than AED 3 billion for the second consecutive quarter to AED 3.03 billion, a 15% increase against AED 2.64 billion registered in third quarter of last year. Mobile data revenues increased by 11% from AED 616 million to AED 684 million during the same period last year while fixed revenue increased by 36% to AED 598 million compared to AED 439 million in third quarter of last year. The company’s EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation) for the quarter reached AED 1.29 billion, an increase of 21% compared to the same quarter last year but its average revenue per user (ARPU) fell slightly during the quarter to AED 102 compared to AED 106 during the same period last year.

du has unveiled disaster recovery as a service, or DRaaS, under its infrastructure as a service, or IaaS, platform. To be available commercially from Fourth Quarter 2014 in partnership with IT Max, the service provides continuous availability with service level agreement when uptime is absolutely critical. This fully secure and fully automated self-service solution allows failover from a web based portal and gets critical systems up and running within a defined window specified by customers. Designed to scale based on customer needs, it caters to both large enterprises and SMEs. Disaster Recovery is available to du IaaS as an out-of-the-box optional feature, du Colocation or between customer's sites.
Du Unveils New Desktop-as-a-Service Solution (DaaS) in Middle East

du has announced the addition of desktop as a service, or DaaS, to its existing enterprise managed services portfolio.
