Chelsio Communications, Inc. Key Developments

NEC Corporation Selects Chelsio Communications, Inc.'s Adapters For Vector Supercomputer

Chelsio Communications, Inc. announced that its T4 based 10GbE adapters have been selected by NEC Corporation for NEC's HPC Systems for network and storage connectivity in SX-ACE, the latest SX-series Vector Supercomputer, targeted at large data processing applications. Equipped with the Chelsio T420-CR Storage Adapter, the NEC SX-ACE enables customers to achieve unprecedented levels of performance and efficiency for scientific computing applications such as weather forecasting, climate studies, fluid dynamics and material science simulations. Chelsio's T4 and T5 based 10GbE adapters are designed for converged storage, server and cluster networking solutions. The Terminator Unified Wire Engine combines high performance protocol offload with advanced security, reliability, traffic management and QoS capabilities. NEC HPC's SX-ACE combines NEC HPC's system software with symmetric multi-processing and the latest networking and storage hardware innovations including 10GbE connectivity, a 64b multi-core vector processor and 64GB of memory per node to deliver unprecedented performance and efficiency levels. With 256 GFlops per node, one tenth the power consumption and one fifth the floor space of previous generations, the NEC HPC SX-ACE Vector Supercomputer dramatically raises the bar for computational and space efficiencies. Chelsio's Terminator 4 is a hyper-virtualized protocol offload engine, a proprietary fourth generation ASIC that supports a complete suite of storage and networking protocols, with unique security, traffic management and QoS capabilities. T4 based adapters transform standard Ethernet into a robust, reliable, high-speed Unified Wire fabric that enables simultaneous support for storage and compute network applications that traditionally required different fabrics such as FibreChannel or InfiniBand.

Chelsio Communications Delivers 40GbE iWARP RDMA For Windows Server 2012

Chelsio Communications announced the release of its Windows Server 2012 NDK driver for RDMA enabled SMB Direct. Chelsio's high performance storage adapters enable a converged interconnect solution that simultaneously supports a complete suite of networking and storage protocols, as well as Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V for virtualized applications. Chelsio's Ethernet adapters are the only ones capable of true 40Gb line rate operation at 8KB I/O with Windows 2012 SMB-Direct. Chelsio demonstrated 40Gb operation of the Windows Server 2012 SMB Direct protocol using a Chelsio T5-based iWARP RDMA over Ethernet adapter at the Storage Developer Conference in Santa Clara, CA. The demonstration showed line rate throughput at 8KB I/O size, effectively the high possible IOPS for SMB Direct over Ethernet-based fabrics.

Chelsio Communications, Inc. Announces Availability of First Set of 40Gb Ethernet Network Adapters

Chelsio Communications, Inc. announced the availability of the first set of 40Gb Ethernet network adapters based on the fifth generation of its hyper-virtualized unified wire Terminator ASIC architecture. The T5 powered adapters are the performance Ethernet interfaces, delivering wire speed bandwidth, ultra low latency and high message processing capacity. With a comprehensive suite of offloaded storage, compute and networking protocols -- including RDMA, TCP/IP, UDP/IP, iSCSI and FCoE with T10-DIX -- T5 enables network convergence and provides unprecedented performance in virtualized environments, while dramatically increasing host system efficiency and lowering communications overhead. The new T5 based cards are high performance drop-in replacements for any FibreChannel or InfiniBand adapter in BSD, Linux and Windows environments: T520-LL-CR: a dual-port, ultra low latency 10 Gigabit Ethernet Unified Wire adapter with a PCI Express 3.0 host bus interface, optimized for financial and HPC applications, with over 6M messages/sec capacity and near zero jitter. It is also a Best in Class 10 GbE interconnect solution for cloud computing, virtualization, storage, and other data center applications. The T520-LL-CR provides 1.5usec end-to-end latency to user-space TCP, UDP and RDMA applications, and is capable of 2x10G full duplex line rate forwarding performance with 64B packets in RFC 2544 testing. T580-LP-CR: a dual-port 40 Gigabit Ethernet Unified Wire adapter with PCI Express 3.0 host bus interface, optimized for cloud computing, HPC, virtualization, storage, and other data center applications. The T580-LP-CR provides ultra low latency and line rate 40Gbps full duplex performance for iSCSI, FCoE, TCP/IP, UDP/IP and RDMA users, and is the only adapter capable of 40Gb line rate operation at 8KB I/O with Windows 2012 SMB-Direct.
