The National Restaurant Association and the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation announced that they have elected officers to their Board of Directors and Board of Trustees, respectively. The officers began their 1-year terms on Jan. 1, and recently led their first board meetings. In addition, the Association and the Educational Foundation have named several industry leaders to join their boards. The National Restaurant Association's 2013 officers are: Chair: Philip J. Hickey Jr. is CEO of Jocks II Inc., and previously served as chairman and CEO of two public restaurant companies, RARE Hospitality International Inc. Vice chair: Marshall L. "Ken" Conrad is chairman of Libby Hill Seafood Restaurants. Treasurer: Jack Crawford is president and CEO of Ground Round Independent Owners Cooperative (IOC) based in Freeport, Maine, where he is responsible for the overall leadership of Ground Round Restaurants. In addition, the National Restaurant Association has added new members to its board. The National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF) announced that Katherine Speyer Schieffelin has joined the Foundation as senior vice president and chief development officer. Schieffelin brings more than a decade of experience in management, fundraising and campaign planning to the NRAEF and will aid in the Foundation's mission to enhance the industry's service to the public through education, community engagement and the promotion of career opportunities. In her new role, Schieffelin will be responsible for leading and executing current and future strategies to build a strong fundraising culture and programs that meet annual and long-term Foundation goals. Schieffelin joins the NRAEF most recently from the Darden Business School at the University of Virginia, where she served as vice president of development.
