Naguib Sawiris, shareholder of VimpelCom Ltd., said that Wind Telecom SpA will be looking to merge or acquire companies like Tiscali SpA, Fastweb SpA and 3 Italia Spa. "We are completely open to integrating with all three companies you mention," Sawiris said. "We have (an) appetite to grow our business. We believe there (are) synergies but until there is something concrete we cannot say anything more than that. There is nothing concrete right now" he added.
Wind Telecom SpA announced unaudited earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2011. For the quarter, the company’s total revenues reached EUR 1,351 million, up 4.3% over revenues of EUR 1,295 million a year ago. EBITDA increased 2.8% year on year to EUR 497 million for the first quarter of 2011. EBIT grew 9.7% to EUR 264 million versus EUR 241 million a year ago.
