AOL LLC, which is in the process of being spun off from Time Warner Inc., is appraising assets it could sell or divest, but will probably retain Bebo Inc., CEO Tim Armstrong said. Armstrong told Reuters on July 9, that Bebo still has "great value" and that it will be moved to a Ventures unit of the company so that work can be done to enhance the site. The move has sparked off rumors that AOL may want to sell Bebo. Speaking on the sidelines of a conference, Armstrong said some other AOL assets are under review for possible sale or divestiture, but refused to divulge details.
Telecom New Zealand has picked Bebo, Inc. as its open mobile core partner in an exclusive mobile service partnership. People Networks will be deploying Bebo open mobile internet, messaging and content across Telecom New Zealand's new mobile network by June, 2009.
It was recently reported that AOL LLC is looking at selling Bebo, Inc. for around $200 million. However, Bebo denied all sale rumors. "The whole thing is ridiculous and there is no truth in it at all," said a Bebo spokesperson.
