General Mills International, Inc. reported consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended August 28, 2011. For the period, the company reported that net sales for international businesses grew 30% to reach $856 million. Pound volume contributed 28 points of net sales growth, including 26 points of growth from the Yoplait acquisition. Price and mix subtracted 8 points of net sales growth, and foreign currency exchange contributed 10 points of net sales growth. On a constant-currency basis, net sales grew 20% overall, with gains of 36% in Europe, 15% in the Asia /Pacific region, 12% in Latin America and 8% in Canada. Operating profit totaled $81 million, up 30% from year-ago levels.
