iBasis and Chunghwa Telecom Co Establish IPX Peering Connection to Support Multiple High-Quality IP-Based Services
Jun 25 13
iBasis and Chunghwa Telecom Co. Ltd. announced an agreement to create a multiservice IPX Peering connection to provide high-quality IP-based services for end-users. Chunghwa Telecom and iBasis, signed an agreement establishing an IPX interconnect for international HD Voice and future services. HD voice will be the first IPX-based service Chunghwa will launch. The HD voice over IPX service delivers true high-fidelity voice through advanced coding technologies and mechanisms that reduce background noise and transmit a wider range of frequency. End-users experience dramatically improved sound quality, which facilitates longer and more productive international calls. To resolve the interoperability challenges that hinder network-to-network HD voice service, both companies cooperate to provide all necessary transcoding between wideband codecs as well as between wideband and narrowband codecs. In addition to HD voice, Chunghwa Telecom and iBasis will cooperate to offer a variety of services over IPX, including GRX, SMS, LTE Signaling and Roaming and Voice over LTE (VoLTE).
E-Plus Connects to iBasis, Inc.s' Multiservice IPX Platform
Jun 4 12
iBasis, Inc. announced that fellow KPN subsidiary E-Plus has connected to iBasis' multiservice IP eXchange (IPX) network. Initially, E-Plus will use the next generation network technology to send international voice traffic via this IPX connection to iBasis. Driven by the GSMA, IPX offers an alternative to the public Internet and to the traditional TDM-based interconnection. It provides the flexibility and efficiency of IP with the security and reliable quality associated with traditional TDM networks. This is particularly significant for E-Plus and other mobile network operators as they transition to IP to capture efficiencies and support new services, such as LTE Roaming, voice over LTE, HD voice, and IP videoconferencing. The iBasis IPX leverages the company's more than 15 years of experience in IP innovation. It is a secure, managed IP interconnection service based on GSMA specifications. It provides a reliable network for the company's voice and data services and a robust, interoperable platform for innovative IP-based services in the future.
