Canal+ Group Announces Unaudited Consolidated Earnings Results for the First Quarter Ended March 31, 2014

Canal+ Group announced unaudited consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2014. For the quarter, revenues were EUR 1,317 million, a 2.4% increase compared to the end of March 2013. EBITA was EUR 175 million, compared to EUR 183 million at the end of March 2013. This change was mainly due to a shift in scheduling of the French Ligue 1 football competition, which had one additional calendar day compared to first quarter 2013.

CANAL + SA Announces Earnings Results for the Year Ended December 2013

CANAL + SA announced earnings results for the year ended December 2013. For the year, the company’s revenues were €5,311 million, a 5.9% increase year-on-year. This growth was primarily driven by the development of pay-TV operations outside of France, notably in Africa and Poland, and by the acquisition and successful re-launch of the free-to-air channels D8 and D17. Excluding transition costs related to D8, D17 and the new operations in Poland, the company’s EBITA was €661 million, down 1.9% compared to 2012. This change was due to lower advertising revenues on pay-TV channels and higher programming costs due to an increase in exclusive content. Including costs related to the integration of D8, D17 and the new operations in Poland, EBITA was €611 million.

For the nine months, the company reported revenue of EUR 3,857 million compared to EUR 3,647 million a year ago. EBITA was EUR 647 million compared to EUR 722 million a year ago. This increase in revenue was primarily due to the integration of new activities in free-to-air television (D8 and D17) in France and to the "n" platform in Poland. EBITA was EUR 675 million, excluding EUR 28 million in transition costs related to the integration of new businesses.
