FedEx Freight Opens New Container Freight Station in Chicago

FedEx Freight Corporation announced that it will open a new container freight station in its Chicago Summit, Ill., facility to consolidate and sort freight bound for Puerto Rico, effective March 31. Shipments to Puerto Rico moving from Chicago Summit will travel five days a week, with updated transit standards reflected in transit maps on fedex.com. The service will benefit any customers shipping to Puerto Rico from North America, including in Canada and Mexico. Customers will continue to receive a single invoice for their less-than-truckload (LTL) and full-container-load (FCL) Puerto Rico shipments through the new Chicago location and the existing Jacksonville, Fla., gateway service center. The new Chicago container freight station is part of a network of more than 360 FedEx Freight service centers across North America.

FedEx Freight Reports Unaudited Earnings and Operating Results for the Fourth Quarter and Full Year Ended May 31, 2013

FedEx Freight reported unaudited earnings results for the fourth quarter and full year ended May 31, 2013. For the quarter, the company reported total revenue of $1,388 million compared to $1,395 million a year ago. Operating income was $38 million compared to $81 million a year ago. Adjusted operating income of $81 million, unchanged from a year ago. Adjusted operating results benefited from higher weight per shipment, increased yield and favorable operational efficiencies, partially offset by lower shipment volumes. For the year, the company reported total revenue of $5,401 million compared to $5,282 million a year ago. Operating income was $208 million compared to $162 million a year ago. The company reported operating results for the fourth quarter and full year ended May 31, 2013. For the quarter, the company reported total average LTL shipments were 85,600 compared to 87,800 a year ago. Composite weight per LTL Shipment was 1,181 lbs compared to 1,163 lbs a year ago. Composite LTL Yield was $19.68 compared to $19.50 a year ago. For the year, the company reported total average LTL shipments were 85,700 compared to 84,900 a year ago.
