Honeywell Automation and Control Solutions reported unaudited earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2012. For the period, the company reported net sales of $3,788 million against $3,656 million a year ago. Profit was $491 million against $459 million a year ago. Sales were up 4%, 3% organic, compared with the first quarter of 2011 driven by growth in Process Solutions and Building Solutions and Distribution, partially offset by a modest 1% organic decline in Energy, Safety and Security as a result of market headwinds in several of short cycle businesses. Profit was up 7% and margins were up 40 bps to 13.0% driven by productivity benefits net of inflation, and the absence of prior year dilution from acquisitions.
Honeywell Automation and Control Solutions reported unaudited earnings results for second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2011. For the quarter, the company reported net sales of $3.9 billion against $3.2 billion for same period a year ago. Segment profit for the period was $496 million against $401 million for same period a year ago. The increase in sales were resulting from improved global end markets, commercial excellence, and new product applications in the Advanced Materials business, coupled with strong UOP growth. Segment profit was up 31% due to higher sales and licensing revenues, commercial excellence, and cost productivity, partially offset by raw material inflation For the six months, the company reported net sales of $7.5 billion against $6.4 billion for same period a year ago. Segment profit for the period was $955 million against $787 million for same period a year ago.
