Alfa Insurance OJSC was formerly known as Murad Insurance Company and changed its name to Alfa Insurance OJSC in June 2005. The company was founded in 1997 and is based in Baki, Azerbaijan. Alfa Insurance OJSC operates as a subsidiary of Texnikabank ASC.

OJSC International Bank of Azerbaijan (IBA) denied reports of a possible acquisition of Alfa Insurance OJSC (Alfa Sigorta) by its subsidiary International Insurance Company Limited Liability (IIC) from Texnikabank ASC. On June 25, 2012, Jahangir Hajiyev, Chairman of Board of IBA said that the news on the acquisition Alfa Sigorta by IIC is not true. Hajiyev said, "Despite the fact that the support experts from IBA did, at the invitation of Texnikabank shareholders move there, ICC and Alfa Sigorta remain separate companies."
