In June 1995, Northeast Federal Corp. was acquired by Shawmut National Corporation. Previously, Northeast Federal Corp., through its wholly owned subsidiary, Northeast Savings, F.A., offered a range of mortgage loan and deposit products in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York. In addition, Northeast Savings operated a residential mortgage loan origination office in Connecticut.
